OSU will compete in National Chem-e-Car

Twenty chemical engineering students participated at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers student regional conference in Tulsa.   OSU was represented by two teams from OSU, Team Absolute Zero and Team Orange Juice.  These teams took on counterparts from Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas in the competition, which focuses on the design, construction and performance of cars the students power with a chemical energy source. Each car must safely carry a specified load a given distance and stop.

Team Abs(0) members are Musaad Al-Jafari-Saudi Arabia, Luke Bower–Claremore, Oshua Sallee–Broken Arrow, and Adam Summers–Ponca City.  Team Orange Juice members are Josh Baker–Choctaw, John Hayes–Broken Arrow, Holly Palmer–Cashion, Nathan Shellady–Sapulpa, and Sara Wilson–Owasso.  Team Abs(0) placed third and will move on to the National ChemECar competition. 

There were 4 oral presentations and 3 poster presentations showing undergraduate research.  Anna Condasce, Tyler Goldsmith, Michele Higgins, and Jacquelyn Lane gave oral presentations and Laura Beth Stover, Grant Spencer, and Yen Nguyen gave poster presentations. Anna Condasce (Advisor, Dr. Ramsey) was recognized as 1st place and Jacquelyn Lane (Advisor, Dr. Ford Versypt) as 2nd in the "paper" or oral presentation category. Anna will participate in at the Nation AIChE Meeting in the Fall.
