OSU undergrads awarded Wentz Research Grants

Thanks to the generosity of the Lew Wentz Foundation, 38 Oklahoma State University undergraduates of all areas of study and representing every college on the Stillwater campus will receive a total of $171,000 in financial aid for the 2016-17 academic year. Out of the 38, 6 are Chemical Engineering students.  Last spring, The Henry Bellmon Office of Scholar Development and Undergraduate Research coordinated the competitive selection process for these awards. 

Graduate Students Receive Scholarship Award

Chemical Engineering PhD students Utkarsh Kapoor and Samyukta Koteeswaran are receipients of the International Society of Automation Educational Foundation Scholarship Award.  Utkarsh is working under the direction of Dr. Jindal Shah and Samyukta is working under the direction of Dr. Peter Clark.

Dr. Prem Bikkina receives 2016 SPE Regional Service Award

Dr. Bikkina was selected by the Society of Petroleum Engineers to receive the 2016 Regional Service Award.  This award is an acknowledgement of his outstanding contribution in this area at the regional level.  As a prestigious award winner, Dr. Bikkina's name will be listed on the SPE website (  He will be presented with the award later this year.

The 35-year-old was diagnosed with leukemia in April but was in outstanding form in Charlotte.

Student Receives First Place at OSPE

Chemical Engineering student, Atiya Banerjee, was awarded First Place at the Poster Presentation competition at the Oklahoma Society of Professional Engineers Conference for his poster titled 'A Computational Approach to the Biodegradability of Imidazolium-Based Ionic Liquids'.  Atiya is a Ph.D. student working under Dr. Shah, who is working on research concerning various aspects of ionic liquids.

ChE students awarded Honors College degrees

The OSU Honors College honored 170 students during a hooding ceremony on April 24 in the Student Union Ballroom. The degree is the highest academic distinction awarded to those receiving an OSU undergraduate degree, and students donned the Honors College hood during Saturday’s OSU commencement ceremony.

Samyukta Koteeswaran's team places third in i2E Governor’s Cup competition

Two teams of students from the Oklahoma State University School of Entrepreneurship were among the top winners in the Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup High Growth Graduate Division announced on April 15.

Shelley Potter receives CEAT Staff Sustained Superior Performance award

Shelley Potter received the CEAT Staff Sustained Superior Performance award at the annual college awards banquet held on March 24, 2016.  The award recognizes her outstanding performance in multiple roles (lab manager, safety director and facilities/project manager) supporting the students and faculty in the School.  In the nomination materials, Shelley received special citation for managing the relocation of all EN4 research labs prior to the EN4 renovation project.  She also helped manage the temporary relocation of the entire department from Engineering North to Cordell North.  Congratul

Carol Abraham wins 2nd at Research Day at the Capitol

Congratulations to Chemical Engineering student Carol Abraham who won second place in the research-intensive institution category March 29 at Research Day at the Capitol.
