2016 AIChE Regional Conference

Two teams from OSU Chemical Engineering participated in the Chem-E-Car competition at the 2016 AIChE Regional Conference at Kansas State University over the weekend.  One of the teams "Gone With The End" was awarded the 2nd place for the "Most Creative Car".  "Gone With the End" team members are Kayla Carrington, Hui Ling Yong, Megan Henderson, Brandon Holle, and Scarlet Tucker.


Women's Faculty Council Research Awards

Congratulations to Chemcal Engineering undergraduates, Rachel Davis (JR) and Michele Higgins (SR), for being selected as recipients of this year's Women's Faculty Council Research Awards.  Rachel Davis won with her research project titled “Investigation of the Interaction Between a Novel Drug Delivery System and an Epithelial Cell Layer”.  Her advisor is Dr. Heather Fahlenkamp.  Michele Higgins won with her research project titled “Mathematical Modeling of Podocyte Cells in a Diabetic Kidney Disease”.  Her advisor is Dr.

OSU Outstanding Seniors

Emma Orth, chemical engineering senior from Andale, Kansas and John Hiett, chemical engineering senior from Kellyville, Oklahoma have received the OSU Outstanding Senior Award.  The Outstanding Senior Award recognizes seniors who excel through academic achievement; campus and community activities: academic, athletic or extra-curricular honors or awards; scholarships and work ethic during their time at OSU.

2016 SPE Mid-Continent Regional Paper Contest

Subarna Kole won the 1st place in Master's division with her presentation topic titled 'Microfluidics Based Emulsion Characterization: A Parametric Study'.  Subarna is an MS student working under the direction of Dr. Prem Bikkina.

Chemical Engineering Students Win Awards at Research Symposium

Several ChE students were among the winners at the 27th Annual Research Symposium.  Two PhD graduate students Mina Derakhshan and Utkarsh Kapoor and six undergraduates Rachel Davis, Anna Condasce, Tyler Goldsmith, Grace Harrell/Alex McPeak (co first authors and co presenters), and Michele Higgins.

Utkarsh Kapoor Awarded 2nd Place

Utkarsh Kapoor was awarded 2nd place in the Physical Science Technology area at the OSU Research Symposium.  His presentation was titled "Using Molecular Dynamics Simulations to Unravel the Structure and Nanoscale Tail Segregation in 1-n-Alkyl-3-Methyl Imidazolium Octylsulfate lonic Liquid Homologous Series."

Dr. Tyler Ley & Dr. Rob Whiteley Featured in Research Week Panels

CEAT Faculty Tyler Ley and Rob Whiteley have been chosen as Research Week Panel participants.

Jacquelyn Lane to Attend the National Prayer Breakfast

Jacquelyn Lane, Chemical Engineering Pre-Med student from Beulah, Colorado, is one of 80 students nationwide to be selected to attend the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. led by the President of the United States.

David Hidinger Receives Free Enterprise Society Scholarship

David Hidinger, a senior in Chemical Engineering, from Colleyville, Texas, is one of 10 Oklahoma State University students awarded Free Enterprise scholarships for excelling in their coursework, furthering their education in free enterprise and actively participating in the Free Enterprise Society.

The society, which is sponsored by the Institute for the Study of Free Enterprise, provides the OSU community with speakers, faculty-student dinner/discussion groups, networking events, field trips and other educational activities.
