Chemical Engineering Students among undergraduates awarded Fall 2015 Wentz Semester Grants

Thanks to the generosity of the Lew Wentz Foundation, 26 Oklahoma State University undergraduates representing a range of disciplines will each receive a $750 Fall 2015 Wentz Semester Research Grant to conduct an original research project under the guidance of an OSU faculty member.

These students submitted research proposals, which underwent a rigorous blind review process by the Wentz Research Committee and were scored on the basis of originality and creativity among other technical and methodological considerations.

Joseph Brown - Homecoming Royalty Candidate

Joseph Brown, a Chemical Engineering Senior, is one of the top 5 men chosen for the OSU Homecoming 2015 Royalty Court. 

The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during halftime of the Oct. 24 at the Kansas football game. The King and Queen will represent OSU and the Alumni Association at events throughout their year-long reign.

Megan Henderson - Engineering Challenge Finalist

Megan Henderson and Amanda Harvey (OSU-Tulsa Senior Mech E) are finalists in the PepsiCo Student Engineering Challenge and have been selected to move on to the final round at WE15.  The teams were to design something that gives a positive impact on the environment and society within the fields of packaging, product and ingredient processing, or equipment design for PepsiCo.  Megan and Amanda created Custom Cola Creations, designing a machine that would reuse 2-liter bottles.  The machine allows the customer to have the variety of a fountain drink with the longevity associated with a 2-iter

AIChE Outstanding Student Chapter for 2014-2015

The OSU AIChE Student Chapter has been selected as an Outstanding Student Chapter for the 2014-2015 school year, thus continuing a very long tradition of winning the Outstanding Student Chapter Award. This is the 17th year in a row that our student chapter has won this award.

Dr. Wang Wins Halliburton Outstanding Young Faculty Award

Dr․ Qingsheng Wang, assistant professor of fire protection & safety, graduate faculty of chemical engineering at Oklahoma State University, and faculty fellow of the Mary Kay O'Connor Process Safety Center at Texas A&M University, is the 2015 recipient of the Halliburton Outstanding Young Faculty Award. Dr. Wang works predominantly in research related to process safety and fire protection engineering.  

2015-16 Donald F. & Mildred Topp Othmer Scholarship

Andishaeh Dadgar has been selected as a winner of the 2015-2016 Donald F. & Mildred Topp Othmer Scholarship Award.  This is a very competitive scholarship as each AIChE chapter across the country is only allowed to nominate one student for this award, and AIChE selects only a few to recognize.

2014-15 Donald F. Othmer Sophomore Academic Excellence Award

Brandon Holle has been selected for the 2014-2015 Donald F. Othmer Sophomore Academic Excellence. This distinguished and well deserved award is presented to one AIChE student member in each student chapter who has attained the highest scholastic grade-point average during his/her freshman and sophomore years.

2014-2015 Freshman Recognition Award

James Kolb has been selected by the AIChE chapter for the 2014-2015 Freshman Recognition Award. This distinguished and well deserved award is presented to one AIChE student member in each student chapter who has been the most active in their student chapter during his/her freshman year.

Distinguished Alumni - Dr. Cassie Mitchell

Dr. CASSIE S. MITCHELL of Atlanta, Georgia graduated from OSU in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. During her time at OSU she was a National Goldwater Scholar and founded Chemkidz, a program that teaches chemical engineering principles to elementary students. Mitchell went on to receive her Ph.D.
